Domain Donk Contest

We are very excited to hear that the Donk Contest at The Domain has released the official date for next year’s annual car show event. The Donk Contest is a colorful time to celebrate cars as artworks. Some cars have hours and hours of dedication and love placed into them. You can see them from the paint jobs and amazingly large wheels that make them “donks”.

It’s important to not forget that slabs are also welcome and The Domain sees more traffic from Houston during Texas Relays Weekend than any other weekend because of the great slabs. The red, teal, gold, and blue slabs help bring a sense of culture to The Domain and Rock Rose in Austin, Texas that is a great experience for all.

We also couldn’t help but notice that during the 2018 Donk Contest there will be a twerk show. This is a first time event at the annual contest and car show which will be very fascinating to see. The event is advertised as family friendly, and it certainly always is but this may be a different situation. We assume that it will happen later in the event so families can shield there children from those kinds of sights.

If you enjoy a good car show with cars with 30″ wheels and corporate branded paintjobs then you will simply love the Donk Contest. Last year the winner received a gold grill from a local jewelry store and it was presented by a famous rapper who I cannot recall the name of. It was a great site to see but the cars are an even better site to witness.

The Donk Contest at The Domain in 2017 was held in a parking garage because of the turnout but we are hoping that even more vehicles are able to make it even though the traffic situation may be a little hard to deal with. Rock Rose is a narrow street at The Domain, but if both lanes are closed for the car show it will leave ample room for contestants to swang through the street in presence of the bars and nightclubs and restaurants.

If you are in the Austin, Texas region then you should definitely stop by the event on March 31, 2018. Tickets are free to spectate or to enter the competition. The respect you can gain is well worth the challenges you may face getting there.

As always, it may not be Highland Mall, but The Domain can be a fun place.
